ANGELINE MANO M
I am 26 years old, a Research Assistant and Nature Educator at Salem Ornithological Foundation. I am an undergraduate in Zoology and a post-graduate in English Literature. I will be enrolling in a Master of Science in Zoology next year. Due to my affinity for nature conservation, I have switched my career. I introduce and promote birds & bird watching to women, children, youth, and the public through bird walks, outreach & education programs, as a good education about nature and birds is the foundation for a better future. The more I observed and learned, the more I wanted to work towards finding ways to educate people and make them understand their responsibilities to protect and conserve the environment.
My areas of work/study are long-term bird monitoring, wetland ecology, wetland surveys, biodiversity documentation, breeding biology of threatened & vulnerable birds, nature education & material development. I work on projects that facilitate research in ornithology and contribute to the conservation of high-priority bird species. Being very much crazy about documentation via checklists, I always start my day with birding no matter where I am. Since 2018, I have been extensively working with school students to improve the birding activity in Salem and I do it through different activity-based teaching methods under the OrniSchool Project.
